We’ve been on the road now for over 6 months..wow time just flies! We somehow thought it would be a bit warmer in Las Vegas than in Bishop but we got it all wrong. The weather is pretty cold and its been very windy the last few days.
We spent a few days around the strip, parked at night behind a casino. It was great because it was free but our last night there was very short due to some sort of construction happening overnight in the lot next to the parking…Las Vegas never sleeps and I guess it’s also true for construction people!! We walked around quite a bit and even went to a Time Share Presentation. We got presented about 4-5 different deals but at the end, we weren’t really interested in that kind of vacationing. Those sales people are very good though, they make you think that you really deserve & need that kind of 5 stars vacation home. The whole thing lasted over 3 hours, all that for free show tickets. We picked the Jubilee Showgirls, worse show ever. The costumes were beautiful but the naked girls all look the same, same size , same boobs!!! Bad music and no story. Maybe we had to much expectation but anyway it was disappointing. Good thing it was free!
We did a bit of gambling, lost some and won some but more losses. Elaine even played Black Jack at a table for the first time. Usually, she only plays the slots. She made some profits!!! We also got introduced to Roulette strategies by our friends Brandon and Gabi. Gambling is fun!! But when you’re on a budget like ours you can’t really afford to lose too much money. We had good fun and we think we’ve been pretty reasonable. We will probably spend a few more dollars next week.
We only did two days of bouldering so far at Kraft Mountain. It’s hard for us to get motivated to go bouldering or climbing when the temperature is close to zero degree Celsius in the shade and not that much warmer in the sun, not to mention how cold it is when it’s not sunny and windy. We surely will do more but we might wait for warmer days. In the meantime, rest and relax!
Almost forgot...Merry Christmas to everyone!
Life in Las Vegas is a bit more complicated than Bishop. Free camping close to the climbing areas is almost impossible and driving between town and Red Rocks is over 30 minutes. Some of our friends are staying in town and driving back and forth and others are staying at the campground for $15/night. None of the above are viable options for us. So far, we’re staying in the parking lot of a casino a few miles from the climbing area. They have restrooms and free Wi-Fi, both essential to us.
More pictures below the budget. Cheers!
